Maritime Museum, Macau, China
Opened to the public in 1987 beside the Temple of A-Ma, the museum quickly outgrew its original two-storey building; a larger, boat-shaped exhibition hall opened nearby in June 1990, with the original building repurposed for administration.
The three-storey hall covers Macau's maritime history and the seafaring accomplishments of China and Portugal, organized by theme reflecting Macau's evolution. An aquarium and outdoor café sit alongside the exhibition hall.
Collection size: over 1,000 pieces — archaeological artifacts, paintings, sculptures, and ship models.
