Asia-Europe museum education grant programme

The ASEMUS Educational Exchange and Outreach Programme funds two-week exchanges of museum educators between Asian and European member museums, aiming to build mutual understanding of collections and audience-engagement strategies, share best practices, and strengthen educational and intercultural capacity.

Eight grants (EUR 4,000-5,000 each) were offered for 2014-2015, covering mobility (flights, local transport, insurance, visas), accommodation, living costs and programme materials, split between partner museums; museums could add their own funding to extend the programme. Applicants needed 3+ years' museum-education experience at an ASEMUS member museum, ASEM nationality/passport, English proficiency (plus the partner museum's language where relevant), and had to submit a pre-exchange statement and a photographed final report afterward. The application required a joint application form, a supervisor's support letter, and two photographs. The 2015 grant deadline was 31 October 2014, with results in December 2014. Enquiries went to Jenny Siung (Chester Beatty Library) and Karen Chin (Asian Civilisations Museum, Singapore).
