Myanmar: National Museum Nay Pyi Taw Hosts Workshop

A three-day collection conservation and management workshop ran 30 January-1 February 2017 at the National Museum, Nay Pyi Taw, an ASEMUS member, organized with AusHeritage (Australia's International Cultural Heritage Network) and Myanmar's Department of Archaeology and National Museum. Twenty staff from the National Museum and regional museums attended; a two-day follow-up ran in Bagan on 2-3 February.

Opened by Dr Nanda Hmun (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture), with Australian Embassy counsellor Nick Cumpston, AusHeritage chairman Vinod Daniel, department director general U Kyaw Oo Lwin, and AusHeritage members Alex Marsden and Dr Charlotte Galloway attending. Funding came via the Australia-ASEAN Institute. Speakers highlighted the two-decade AusHeritage-Myanmar partnership and Myanmar's recent acceptance as an ICOM National Committee.
