Ethnographic Museum of Geneva (MEG), Switzerland

Founded in 1901 by anthropologist Eugène Pittard, MEG preserves some 80,000 items from five continents, with original collections drawn from the Archaeology Museum of Geneva and the Museum of the Missions. The Asia collection was developed especially under director Marguerite Lobsiger-Dellenbach and curator Jean Eracle.

Permanent collections span from Palestine to Borneo, with a focus on Samurai civilisation and Buddhism — Tibetan thangka, Japanese ofuda (from André Leroi-Gourhan's collection), Indian sculptures and textiles, Chinese costumes, and Indonesian artefacts and textiles.
