Dr. Choi Eunchul is the Director General of the Gwacheon National Science Museum (GNSM), a museum located in Gwacheon, near Seoul, Korea. He received an M.A. in Electric Machinery at the Busan National University in 1981, and Ph.D in Industrial Engineering from the University of Bristol, UK in 1999. After graduation from his Master’s course at Busan National University, he started his career at the Ministry of Science Technology as a public servant.
Dr. Choi was later appointed as the Director of the Seoul National Science Museum in 2003, and most recently served as the Director of research for exhibitions at the National Science Museum in Daejeon in 2009. Since then, his interest in museology increased, particularly, in the field of Korean traditional science.
Dr. Choi Eunchul hopes that the children who visit the GNSM will be able to witness the wisdom of Korean ancestors in science, and to build scientific creativity by exploring museum exhibits including the Korean Traditional Science Hall and Saryogwan. He also hopes that the GNSM will be more involved in ASEMUS activities in the future.
