UNWTO International Conference on Heritage Tourism | Japan

"How do we foster, present and preserve world treasures" — the UN World Tourism Organization's conference ran 24-26 February 2016 at the Todaiji Temple Cultural Center, Nara, Japan, bringing together tourism industry figures, governments, academics, local communities and international organisations.

Goals included ensuring heritage tourism is responsible, inclusive and sustainable; balancing cultural-identity protection with tourism development; building heritage-based tourism products; empowering host communities to shape their own heritage's presentation; and managing visitor flows sustainably.
